JESUS

Born in the village of Bethlehem five miles from Jerusalem,
Jesus grew-up at Nazareth in Galilee,
worked as a carpenter into his early thirties
when he abandoned this way of life
to become an itinerant preacher.
He numbered among his friends and followers;
sinners, the poor, the weak, outcasts, lawbreakers and prostitutes. Opposition to his teaching grew and led to his death by crucifixion.
The followers of Jesus declared that Jesus appeared to them three days after his death which means that God raised Jesus from the dead.

The story of Jesus isrecorded in four Gospels:
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
At the beginning of his Gospel
Matthew says that the true name of Jesus is Emmanuel, meaning:
God is with us.

He ends his Gospel with Jesus words: "I am with you always, to the end of time".
Matthew presents Jesus as the Messiah,
the Son of David, the Son of Abraham,
the fulfilment of the hope of Israel,
the Saviour who will save us from our sins..

Our Youth Choir meet for practice on Mondays from 7-8 in the Parish Centre.  New members are very welcome.

What could you say to encourage a friend who wasn’t feeling good about themselves?
As friends we can have a big impact – whatever we can say or do to show others that we value them could make all the difference.

Make a written list of what you like about yourself – try adding to the list every day (no matter how small the thing you add may seem!), try reading your list out loud. You don't have to show your list to anyone, just share it with God. He loves it when you discover good things about yourself.

We are looking for new Altar Servers. If you know of any child in fourth/ fifth class who might be interested, encourage them to join this ministry. Contact Hannah at 0871774357

Aim of this new office:

• Enable young adults to learn, participate and pass on faith to the next generation.
• The aim of this office would be to form young people as disciples of Jesus challenging them to answer the Gospel call to love and serve.
• To work in close collaboration with the new Diocesan Office of Evangelisation.

All our work will inform, involve and invite as many people in this mission.

(The Priority of this department will be Young Adults – aged 18+.
However a number of Evangelisation projects will be schools based – with a special focus on youth aged under 18)

How?

• Giving young people an opportunity to serve their parish, community and diocese in the area of evangelisation.
• Involving as many young adults in this task throughout the diocese.
• Offering options for people to learn more about their faith and the Church – through a variety of means.
• Working with the Vicar of Evangelization and Mission of CYC.
• Build on the legacy of the World Youth Days and pilgrimages.

Pillars of Evangelization:

• Training and teaching young people to evangelise their peers.
• Provision of annual pilgrimages – including World Youth Days
• Creating new spaces of evangelization using liturgy, sacraments and multi-media.
• Developing an out reach for inactive young Catholics and reconnecting them with the young Church, their parish and communities of faith.

Supporters of Youth Evangelisation

We are conducting a series of meetings with groups/people who work with young adults in the diocese to see if they can support our vision of evangelisation. If you know of any such groups—let them know about us—so they can get in touch.
